About the press
Stories that think. Ideas that move.
Signals & Strategy Press is a small, boutique publisher of nonfiction and fiction that explores relationships and the social networks we build. Through stories and ideas, we examine how human connections shape our lives, communities, and organizations.
Why we exist
Publishing has become very good at producing volume and much less good at producing clarity. Readers are offered more books than ever and fewer that reward the hours they ask for.
We take the opposite approach. We publish fewer titles, edit them harder, and hold each one to a simple standard: it must be honest about its evidence, useful in practice, and readable by someone who is tired at the end of a long day.
Fiction and nonfiction sit side by side on our list because both do the same work from different directions. A story can make a system visible. A framework can make a story actionable. Together they change how a reader sees the room they are already standing in.
Our editorial architecture
Source → Signal → Strategy → Impact
- 01
Source
Every book begins in evidence - field observation, research, documented cases, and the accounts of people doing the work.
- 02
Signal
We separate what changes a decision from what merely fills a page. Clarity is an editorial obligation, not a style choice.
- 03
Strategy
Ideas earn their place by surviving contact with practice. Frameworks are tested against the messy conditions readers live in.
- 04
Impact
The measure of a book is what a reader can do differently on Monday - and still believe a year later.
Our history
Built slowly, on purpose.

A question, not a business plan
The press began as a working notebook: why do capable organizations keep struggling to achieve their goals? The question led to reading, lead to research, led to ideas about the signals no one was seeing or looking for.
- 2024
The editorial standard
Source, Signal, Strategy, Impact was written down as a test every piece of content created has to pass before it earns our seal of approval and brand.
- 2025
First list, first readers
Smoke Signals and companion resources were experiments and drafts that out to a small set of friends as samples and ideas to get feedback and improve the artifacts. That adjusted the shape of the content we were considering producing and the books to come.

The Invisible Tax
Our first full-length nonfiction title, with practitioner artifacts and discussion guides published alongside it.
Working with us
A small list, carefully kept.
We read every inquiry that arrives. If you are considering a book, a translation, a bulk order, or a conversation on stage, tell us about the reader you are trying to reach and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right press for it.
“The most expensive costs in an organization are the ones nobody can see.”
